Asbestos Abatement Contractors

Part 1: Responsibilities of Contractors Performing
             Asbestos Abatement for Washington State
             University Projects

Contractors who perform asbestos abatement on the Washington State University (WSU) campus must be certified to perform asbestos abatement in Washington State, must perform abatement activities in compliance with WAC 296-62-077 through 07755, and must comply with the "WSU Specifications for Asbestos Abatement Contractors."

Contractors must work cooperatively with third party overseers hired by WSU for the project. WSU overseers perform pre-abatement and clearance sampling for abatement projects, as well as watching the asbestos abatement contractor to ensure compliant workmanship during abatement activities.
