Washington State University is conmmitted through its Environmental Management System and Sustainability initiative to continually improve its environmental performance. Continuous improvement will be achieved through support of teaching, research, extenstion, and in the development and management of university facilities.
Environmental Services
EH&S Environmental Services (ES) assists the University community in safely managing surplus and waste chemicals through recycling, treatment, and disposal programs. ES responds to chemical spills and provides evaluation, cleanup, and monitoring services. ES also provides consultation services in pollution prevention, waste minimization, and contaminated site investigation and remediation.
Public Health, Air and Water Quality
EH&S Public Health, Air, and Water Quality assists WSU in maintaining a healthy and clean living, working, and outdoor environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Public Health inspects facilities, issues permits, performs sampling, develops policies, provides consultations, investigates complaints, and reviews plans for the WSU community.
Occupational Health & Safety
EH&S Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is responsible for promoting the University's overall safety and health program. The goal of the program is the prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses. In pursuing this goal OH&S assists the administration, departments and safety committees in developing and implementing safety and health programs and procedures to control exposures to chemical, physical and biological hazards.
