THIS COLOR KEY TABLE WILL HELP YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND THE USE OF COLORED DOCUMENTS IN BOTH THIS "ONLINE" VERSION AND IN THE "HARD COPY" PAPER FILE.
Located throughout both the "online" and "hard copy" versions of the WSU Lab Safety Manual are yellow colored documents.
The "hard copy" paper version has not been updated since 1995 and EH&S no longer provides updated hard copies. However, there are limited numbers of the 1995 editions available for distribution. The 1995 edition is an excellent starting point for creating your paper version. EH&S recommends if you do not have the Red Laboratory Safety Manual available in your labortory and you are in need of a "hard copy" paper version of the WSU Lab Safety Manual, contact EH&S at 335-3041.
- The purpose of the yellow documents in the "hard copy" paper version of the LSM is to provide a format in which the Laboratory in question may place information specific to that lab. These specific informational pages are the responsibility of the laboratory principal investigator . Without the specific details that only the laboratory supervisor can provide, the manual is incomplete. Once those details are provided and recorded in the manual, regulatory compliance as mandated by the State of Washington will be achieved.
- The purpose of the yellow documents in the "online" version is to provide easy reference to the real documents in the "hard copy" paper version of the LSM.
NOTE: It is the responsibility of the principal investigator/laboratory supervisor to make the laboratory safety manual (Chemical Hygiene Plan) available to their employees/students, to review and evaluate the effectiveness at least annually, and to update as necessary (See Section 1C of the LSM for implementation of the Chemical Hygiene Plan). Since the hard copies have not been updated since 1995, EH&S has provided this link to assist with your updates.
Located throughout the "online" version of the WSU Lab Safety Manual are several purple bordered documents. These purple documents are samples and examples which can be used as a guideline for your own laboratory specific information within the LSM.
