Stormwater Management at WSU

TMDLs

(Water Quality Improvement Projects)

TMDL = Total Maximum Daily Load

The TMDL program focuses on improving the water quality in a watershed when the water quality in portions of the watershed do not meet State standards.

The TMDL program involves all of the stakeholders in a watershed working together to improve water quality.

The following TMDLs have been proposed or approved for the South Fork of the Palouse River:

  • Toxics (approved)
  • Bacteria (proposed)
  • Temperature (proposed)
  • Dissolved Oxygen / pH / Nutrients (proposed)

WSU is meeting all of its requirements in the Toxics TMDL.

A TMDL component will not be added to WSU's stormwater permit until the permit is revised in 2012.
