Immunization Requirement: Tetanus

Requirement

  • Evidence of tetanus booster within the last 10 years is required for all individuals who have recurrent animal contact. This is based upon the recommendation of the US Department of Health and Human Services and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
  • You must document when you were immunized for tetanus on the Participation/Declination form when you register in the WSU Animal Contact Program.

Valid Exemptions

  • Medical exemptions: Employee must produce a letter from a doctor stating the reason for the exemption and whether it is temporary or permanent.
  • Religious exemption: Employee must produce a letter on church stationery, signed by the minister, priest, rabbi, or head of church.

Where and How to Get Immunized!

  • ACCEPT participation in the Medical Health and Risk Assessment element of the WSU Animal Contact Program. The immunization will then be provided to you at no cost!!
  • Student Health at Pullman Memorial Hospital (if you are a student at WSU)
  • Your Physician
