Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos can be found in many older building materials, such as pipe insulation, floor tiles, ceiling tiles and fireproofing. To prevent asbestos exposure, OHS presents asbestos awareness training to all workers who may accidentally disturb asbestos-containing materials during the course of their job. The goal of this training is to teach employees how to recognize possible asbestos-containing materials so they may avoid releasing asbestos fibers.

OHS proactively samples materials to determine the location and amount of asbestos materials in campus buildings. OHS also provides industrial hygene consultation during asbestos abatement activities.
