Chemical Exposure Monitoring

The term "chemical exposure monitoring" typically means the measurement of employee exposure to airborne vapors or particles of hazardous chemicals. OH&S maintains several pieces of specialized chemical exposure monitoring equipment in order to monitor WSU employee chemical exposure to a large variety of toxic substances.

OH&S will provide, upon request, an evaluation of the potential for airborne exposure of laboratory employees to toxic chemicals. The evaluation may include actual air sampling to determine the exposure concentration and dose. Evaluations regularly conducted by EH&S industrial hygiene staff include those for formaldehyde, solvents, isocyanates, asbestos and lead.|
