Stormwater Pollution Prevention


Hazardous Materials / Wastes

Asbestos Awareness: general information about where asbestos may be found and how to protect yourself from overexposure.

Lead Awareness: training about hazards from lead based paint and other lead containing materials and methods to reduce your lead exposure.

Chemical Spill Management: specific information about cleaning up small, and relatively non-toxic spills and releases of hazardous chemicals in the laboratory environment. Directions for notification of the WSU emergency response system, and information about how chemical spill emergency responders work.

Bloodborne Pathogens: EH&S staff conduct bloodborne pathogen training for those employees who may have an occupational exposure to human blood or other bodily fluids

Workplace Safety

Outdoor Heat Stress: This training covers identifying, evaluating, and controlling potential exposure to extreme temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors; providing supervisor and employee training, and establishing heat-related emergency procedures. Laboratory Safety: general information about the OSHA/WISHA "laboratory safety rule." Specific information about major elements of the program; container labeling, hazard information (such as MSDSs), and employee training.

Accident Prevention Program Review: EH&S can assist departments in developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental accident prevention programs and training.

Back Injury Prevention Training: EH&S can evaluate work practices, equipment, and facilities to identify back injury risk factors, and provide training on safe lifting techniques. For more information on preventing back injuries see the Back Injuries Factsheet.

Lockout/Tag Out Program: EH&S can assist departments in developing procedures and training employees to control hazardous energy during maintenance and repair activities.

Ergonomics: EH&S can provide computer workstation and laboratory ergonomic training. For more information on Ergonomics, click here.

Safety Committees: EH&S can assist departments in establishing safety committees and providing training for committee members.

Inspections: EHS& provides training on how to conduct a safety inspection.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): EH&S can assist departments in conducting hazard assessments, selecting PPE, and training employees.
